Once your child has created his/her own edmodo account the parent codes will be available.  Most students were able to create their account in math class.  If you would like to request a parent code please e-mail Mrs. Baker:  kbaker@wolcottps.org.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We’d like to inform you about our new eLearning platform that all students at Tyrrell Middle School will be using throughout the year. The website is called edmodo® and it enables a class to create a unique, private learning space online as an extension of the physical classroom. Students and teachers will be using edmodo® for all communication outside of class and may carry out learning tasks on edmodo® during class.

On edmodo® students will be able to:

• talk to the teacher and ask questions about work from home;
• talk with the rest of the class and share ideas about class work from anywhere at any time;
• share files and resources amongst the teacher and other students in the class;
• keep track of important due dates such as tests and projects;
• quickly and easily catch up on handouts or work missed due to absences;
• receive and hand-in assignment tasks electronically (in some instances).

edmodo® will be the primary method of student-teacher communication outside of class. Students will be expected to log in and check their edmodo® account regularly. They can do this via any computer at school, town library or at home. edmodo®  can also be accessed via an internet-capable mobile phone using the phone’s web browser or the downloadable edmodo® phone application(iPods, iPads, iPhones, and androids).

As edmodo® is a private, teacher-controlled learning space, all communication and student interaction is closely monitored by the teacher. Importantly, there is no direct student-to-student messaging on Edmodo – a feature designed to prohibit cyber-bullying in any degree.  The whole platform is managed by an administrator to ensure the safety and support of all students.

It must be stressed that each teacher will use edmodo® is in varying degrees. Students must negotiate with individual teachers the level of communication that might be expected after school hours. Typically teachers will respond to student posts within school hours.

We are pleased to announce that Edmodo Parent Accounts are now available, and we’d like to invite you to join our classroom online. 

With your Parent Account, you can:

• Send messages to your child and me, either together or individually
• View attachments that cannot be seen on www.granite.educatorpages.com
• Receive updates on class and school events

For more information on edmodo parent accounts look for the letter being sent home with your child.

Welcome Back to School! We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Granite Team.  We are all excited to be back and are looking forward to a great year.  Email is the quickest form of communication with the team.  Our email addresses are listed in your planner.

We know the beginning of the year can be overwhelming for both students and families, especially with the amount of paperwork that is sent home. Please have these notices signed and returned by Friday (9/2).
